From October 2007 until May 2008 Te Radar lived in a paddock as part of an ambitious television project entitled Off the Radar.
The show sought to answer whether he could survive by living only off what he could produce.
To the surprise of many, and no doubt the disappointment of some, he did not die.
The experiment explored the actual practicalities of living off the land, and within that, looked at ways to create a lifestyle that was at once survivable, ecologically sustainable, and tolerable.
Off the Radar, screened on TV1 at 7.00pm on Sunday nights became a top-rating TV1 series.
It is now also A BOOK and a popular LIVE SHOW.
